OpenSSL 1.0.1 and OpenSSL 0.9.8u has been out since 12th of March 2012 (no dll updates for a while from you).

OpenSSL 1.0.1 would support TLS 1.1 and TLS 1.2.

We and other colleagues having difficulties to get replies from support at g6ftpserver.com... I sent 2 or 3 tickets, got 1 reply. My colleague Rafael also sent a ticket and no response after weeks.

We've sent from Gmail, from our personal email address, etc.

Je m'appr�te � r�aliser le remplacement d'un serveur sur lequel est h�berg� Gene6Ftp (3.10.0 build 2).

Sachant qu'il m'est impossible de migrer d'un coup tous les utilisateurs, je souhaiterais savoir s'il est possible de param�trer niveau utilisateur une reconnexion transparente vers un second serveur h�bergeant lui aussi Gene6 (avec ex�cution d'un script � l'arriv�e du fichier)?

Ainsi tous les utilisateurs seraient transf�r�s au fur et � mesure vers le nouveau serveur, pour finalement �teindre l'ancien serveur une fois tous les utilisateurs transf�r�s.

It's a remake of the WebAdmin, with big differences :

Languages available : Danish, English, French, German, Italian, Swedish, Hungarian, Nederlands, Polish
Easy setup via an admin page !
You can allow users to self-register on your FTP !
When users create their account: Ability to send new password via email instead of displaying it, thus forcing user to give a valid email
When users create their account: Ability to send a mail to the site admin whenever a account is created
When users create their account: Ability to choose if new accounts should be enabled or not
Login and passwords are G6FTP's (no extra config)
Supports password stored as NONE, MD5, OTP-MD5 and SIMPLE.
Users are able to change their own personal infos
Users can view their stats
If enabled for users, they will see quota and ratio infos
Users can change their password, if they are allowed to
Users can retrieve their password by email, if they are stored as SIMPLE or OTP-MD5 and (of course) if the user have previously enter his email.
MD5 password can now be reset if lost ! (A new password is made and sent via email)

I strongly recommand you to uninstall any <2.0 version.

User account still being logged despite Log Enabled unticked

I'm getting a lot of hits to our FTP server (running 3.10.0 Build 2) from an internal client and the log files (to disk) are getting quite large.
In the specific user account settings I've unticked "Log enabled", then Stopped and Started the FTP service, but the account is still appearing in the log file. Am I missing something obvious?

Main Domain log is set to log "Everything".

This is what pretty much fills up the log file:

This is my solution if your G6 FTP Server is bruteforced by Administrator username

Done this little script for a request by ymerc: KickBan Logging in user by name?

Instructions:

1 - download the script: BanUsername-v2.vbs

2 - edit the script with your settings (change the bold settings with your custom settings):

3 - save the changes to BanUsername-v2.vbs and copy it to yours "C:\Programs Files\Gene6 FTP Server\Scripts"

4 - create Username Administrator (or the Username you have set on line 62) without password
You MUST create the user, because the script works only when the user is on "OnClientAuthenticated" --> scripts
and the client is authenticated only if exist and it's without password
You could leave EMPTY Access rights, are not required and more secure if EMPTY

5 - enable the script BanUsername-v2.vbs on yours G6 Domain Scripts

NOTE: username is case sensitive. So you set the script with Administrator, the user administrator will be able to authenticate.
It will never login, because we left the Access rights EMPTY, but the script will not ban it ...
In next release I will try to remove this limitation

Now see what happen next time the user Administrator try to login

strange issue with anonymous

after upgrading to version 3.10.15 this direct download functionality stops working.

Problems installing the latest versions, and some others

Hi there,

I changed today from server machine, so I'm reinstalling the software.

I downloaded the latest installer from the website, installed it, and it runs fine. But when I try to put the key file the service just won't start.

I downloaded the 3.10.0.15 and 3.10.0.14 updates and with or without the key file it crashes, the service doesn't start.

In both cases, where it doesn't want to start, there is no clear error, just the generic windows message when a service fails to start on time.

I'm running this on a Windows 2008 R2 x64 machine.

Limit Downloads Per IP

Here is another little script, initially made for Jocke.

It's rather simple : it counts every file/byte a user requests, per IP.
When the user reach the quota set, he won't be able to download a file until the counter resets.

I have downloaded and moved over the new Build 15 files
to my installed directory, but when i look in G6
Help/About it still says Build 10, even when i move
over the mouse on the G6 icon it say Build 15.

A little bug that should get fixed.

Gene6 FTP 3.10.0.14 "fake" starts/stops every 60 Seconds

After upgrading to Gene6 FTP 3.10.0.14, the Server Displays Log Messages "stopped listening" / "listens on" again and again.

A customer reported this first time here:

The message appears every 60 Seconds.

I installed Build 14 by myself and see the same messages every 120 Seconds.
The Server does not stop at all, no transfers are interrupted and all connections are staying alive.

Digest Upload Email Notification

I got sick and tired of getting hundreds of individual upload notification emails from the other scripts/plugins here, so I slapped together a script that would send a summary of files that a user uploaded during a single session...

Basically It creates a log file for each user session as they upload files, on session end/disconnect the script looks for a log file and if it finds one, then it attaches the log to an email and sends that to a specific email address. I also added in a safeguard that every hour it checks for log files in case for some reason the session end event doesn't fire. You can also exclude certain users from the upload notification process (it essentially doesn't log uploads from certain user logins).

To install/configure the script, just do the following...

Download the attached script, rename the extension to vbs instead of txt, i.e. ftp-email-upload-log.txt >> ftp-email-upload-log.vbs
Copy the script to the Scripts folder under the Gene6 FTP Server install folder under your Program Files folder.
Edit the script file under the REQUIRED INFO / OPTIONS section to suit your needs.
Edit the properties of the domain in the Gene6 Admin GUI and enable the script by checking the box next to the script name (under the Customize > Scripts section).

You can change the options to either use a local IIS SMTP pickup folder to send the email or simply use any SMTP server (even supports SMTP over SSL!). Make sure you edit the To/From options so the email is sent to the correct person and if you need to exclude certain users from the notifications, just edit the UsersToIgnore variable so the usernames are comma separated. The script is fully commented and if you need to debug any issue with the script, just set the DebugOn variable in the script to True and the script will include a bunch of information to the usual FTP server log... Of course if you run multiple domains just copy and rename the script, change the options and enable the correct one for each domain.

Good luck, I hope you all get some benefit from it and cross your fingers the developers pick development back up of this fine product and add SFTP support, a Java/Web based FTP client front end etc...

The sitebot messages is whole messages so one just need a script in mirc that reads the lines of the log file.
Scripts for CodSpirits Tiny IRC Bot (TIB) added.

TIB: (Read_SFV_Log.zip)
Just place the vbs file in the scripts folder of the TIB directory.
And edit the 2 first lines. Specify where the log-file is and if you want to use the /me annouce or the normal way.
It automaticly adds a timer that reads the log file every 1 second.

Extract the SFVConfig folder and SFVCheck.vbs from the ZIP file to C:\Program Files\Gene6 FTP Server\Scripts

For the MP3 part to work, you need to copy MP3Tag.DLL and Register.bat to a directory ie G6 inst. dir or System32 under the windows directory. And run Register.bat to register the MP3Tag.DLL file.

In the zipfile I included 2 config files. They have different layout of the message file, and replys to the user.
Just look in the file to see the layout, and edit the settings to your needs.
They are all commented so should be easy to figure out

After the settings are set, check that the right config file is included in SFVCheck.vbs.
Look for this line: Script.Include "SFVConfig/Config.inc"
Change this setting to the config file you want to use.

When the settings are made, then enable the script for users or domain.
And start upload something.

Please note that it does NOT work on ftp:// or ramdisk://.

Please note when reporting bugs:
Check the script error log at "FTP Server -> Logs & Reports -> Script error log" for any errors.
Tell as much as possible how far the script gets.
Does it create the headers ?
Does it add the files to the racestats file ?
Does it update the message file ?
Enable the debug log in SFVCheck.vbs and attach the file here.

It will help me locate the possible error faster and reduce the postings back and fourth.

There is any tray icon with remote connection is available?

Hi all!

There is any tray icon with ability to remotely connect to G6 service? I need to monitor server not locally, but via my LAN. G6 Server Administrator can work via network, but it does not show anything when minimized. But I need to be informed when somebody logged in, works with FTP & etc. E-mail/blat is not very useful for me. I need some desktop solution. Like is original G6 Tray Icon, but with ability to work via network. Standard G6 Tray Icon only can do local monitoring.
