I tried every version since version 3.1.0 b70, and all I got form them is 100% CPU on GFTPTray. If I ended task on GFTPTray, then GFTPServer would get 100% CPU, if I ended task on GFTPServer, then my explorer.exe would get a 100% CPU usage Then my hole system becomes unstable, unusable, etc. Sometimes it wont even let me reboot, and had to do hard boots because of it. It locks up with no connections, it just runs in the background. The only version that works correctly is the 3.1.0 b70.

Right now, it says trial is expired, and only 1 domain and 1 connection is allowed. Is it because of that? If it is, how can I retry the new version 3.4.0 to see if that locks up on me?

I like the software, but if none of the newer versions work for me, I cannot purchase it.

Thanks.

The trial status is not a problem but I think something is wrong on your system or your server installation has something corrupted ... by the way you can install v3.4 over your current version, it will just behaves like previous version though expired.

Yea, I did install it over 3.1.0.70. Every version that was released since 3.1.0.70 has not worked for me, same problem with all. I'm gona have to try it on a new system, and maybe with a different router. I'm gona have to borrow one from a friend, because I did test with 2 routers that I have, with no luck.

Also, my internal IP, which is 192.168.1.2, is set static to my PC, not sure if that affects Gene6. Router is set to start IPs from 192.168.1.3 and up. Its set for 16 IPs.

The router should not be a problem, it is a separate device.
Test on the local ip only and report your findings.

Reinstalled Fresh, and copied my account form the old install. They are basic settings, nothing special. If this gives me a problem, I'm gona try to make a total new account.

Started at 10:10PM, hope it runs smooth.

I had exactly the same problem as you, maybe 3 months ago. I "fixed" it by disabling some graphics settings in my nvidia display drivers. I think i was using that DualView function. Not sure if that really was the reason, but since then, its working fine... You might wanna give it a try.

Multiple Desktops. I was using my standard Monitor connected on VGA and my TV-Out as one big virtual desktop together. Since i switched to CloneDisplay mode, the 100% bug never appeared again. Dunno if it is fixed in the latest NVidia drivers.

well, late reply, but the new drives did not work either.

I'm going to test again, with Multiple Desktops disabled. If this does work, it kina sucks if I do want to run Multiple desktops. This should be looked into, and fixed. Annoying bug.

Man, can any Dev at Gene6 take a look at this problem?

If we could reproduce it, but we have not succeeded yet.

If anyone is getting the same problem please post hardware setup, OS version, server version. Also check Windows event logs to see if any problem is reported.

I'm experiencing the same problems described above. First G6FTPTray.exe gets 100% CPU load and when I terminate it through the task manager explorer.exe gets full CPU load instead. The problems seems to appear at random times, even when the server is empty. No problems reported in my event logs.

CPU: AMD 1700+
RAM: 512MB
Connection: 10Mbit
Graphics card: Nvidia Geforce3 (don't know if this might have anything to do with this)

OS: Windows XP Pro (SP2)
G6: 3.4.0 build 16

My setup is:

Windows XP SP2
AMD 3200+
Asus A7N8X Deluxe
Geil 3200 1G Dual Channel DDR
Geforce 6800 GT (Driver: 71.90)
...
Gene6 FTP (Everything above 3.1.0.70)

I have tried every version above 3.1.0.70, and they all lock up on me. I have used many different Nvidia drivers, to test.

What could have changed from version 3.1.0.70 that does this to every version after? Myabe work back to see if anything went wrong?

I got the same error when nview was enabled.

Dont have two monitors anymore, so nview is disabled, and G6 works fine smile.gif

ok, reisntalled 3.4.0.16 again, and this time, I completely disabled nView. If this works, then there is a problem between nvidia drivers and Gene6.

I will not use Gene6 if this problem is not fixed, weather its nvidia or Gene6 problem. I have to use my nView. I will contact Nvidia about this problem also.

Disabling nView seems to fix the problem. But the best solution would be if there was a way to fix this bug.

What kind of Firewall do you have???

Probably ZoneAlarm Security suite? This software will "infect" Gene6.
