It seems only occur with the suite, someone with an FTP group has installed first the suite (ZoneAlarm Security Suite ver 5.5.062.011.) then he had a lot of problems with CPU usage of 100% and uploading was very slow.

After he uninstalled the suite and he installed only ZA the problem was fixed. smile.gif

I'm not using software Firewall. I'm sure now, that its nView. I run with nView disabled, and version 3.4.0.16. Before, with nView on, no version after 3.1.0.70 worked for me, all of them failed.

I was going to purchase when 3.2.0 came out, but since it did not work, I waited for next version, but all I did, was keep waiting for this bug to be fixed, and still hasn't been fixed.

Like I said, 3.1.0.70 worked, and what changed in the next version that messed it up, I don't know. Programers should look at the next version after 3.1.0.70 to see what could have caused this problem.

I have tried about 20 different driver versions. This new one, 71.84 I have not, but I tried with even 71.90WHQL, wich was supposed to be official final, but I guess 71.84 made it.

I have this problem too, using version 3.40.16 on a Windows 2003 Standard Edition box. When I use the Server Administrator, everything works fine until I close it. After that, the box just hangs and nothing works except pushing the old power button.

This happens EVERY single time I use the Server Admin, and is making Gene6 FTP rather unusable for me.

Hardware: Via Epia 1Ghz, 512MB RAM, 160GB ATA disc. No firewalls installed, no other problems: mail/www/apache works just fine!

Does anyone know if 3.5.0.10 fixes this problem? Haven't tested yet.

Thanks

Are there any news about this issue? It seems all people who posted in this thread are using a nvidia graphic card.
In the german forum a user reported the same problem - he uses an ATI card, but a mainboard with nVidia-Chipset.

No, I don't want you to change your cards smile.gif
I just thought the info that it not happens only on systems with nvidia cards might be helpful in any way.

2 very long months have gone by and this problem has not been resolved yet.

i've been a paying supporter of both bpftpserver and gene6 ftp server for many
many years...

and when i finally made the switch from bulletproof ftp to gene6 i was a very
happy camper indeed.

until... the 100% cpu load problem entered my life.

this is non-acceptable AND should be very well looked into and fixed.

yes, the problem seems to be with the nvidia cards, using nview for dual monitor
display. so what. i used bulletproof for years without any load. this simply should
NOT be the case with gene6. at all.

my info in case its need is as follows:

winxp pro SP2 :: AMD athlon XP2000+ (1.67GHz)
512mb ram (ddr 2700) :: 1+ tb total hdd
g6 ftp server v3.5.0 (build 10)

more importantly on the video specs:

NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4200 (agp 4x 64mb)
uses irq 16, bios: 4.25.00.29.10
windows reports driver version: 6.5.7.3 (8-2-2004)
nview reports these dll hooks with all versions: 6.14.10.6573:
nv4_disp.dll :: nv4_mini.sys :: nvoglnt.dll :: nvcpl.dll
nview.dll :: nvshell.dll :: nvwdmcpl.dll

i will post screen shots within this post or next if my computer crashes again.

so how is it may i ask that you have a version beyond what the site offers?

EDIT: i just noticed: Group: Beta Testers

Post here your problem with all info available ...
this is not a common problem, because is limited to specific situations.

As example I can say that I have this config and NO problem:

Report of all info about your system can help to find where is the problem.

M.Roger said they were unsuccessful in reproducing the issue, so i guess they are / were testing it at some point, but no other reported issues & no one really gave any specifics to the issues... post windows event logs, anything in gene6 error log file ..
and im sure a developer will have a look.

try upgrading drivers, post on nVidia forums about the issue also.

i too use dual view, but with ATI. seems no issues.

I use almost the same graphic board and drivers so we can definetly say nvidia isn't the problem !

mad.gif

I could reproduce the problem !

But you won't like how ... I just enable n'Vidia nView Desktop Manager, rebooted my PC (needed to complete a windows update) and one hour later, guess what ...

G6 Tray App starting to take 100% CPU
How bad ... I killed it !
Imediatly after, explorer.exe goes to 100% !

Had to to a hard reboot to get my system back.

So, question to thegleek: do you use nView Desktop Manager ?
