Is there a way to make a users home directory a UNC path or Network Mapped Drive?

Map the drive as a driverletter then just add the driveletter as a path...

i can not find it now, but isn't there a discussion from the G6 developers about avoiding the use of mapped drives and just using UNC (or vica-verca) ?

no, that is not the one i was thinking of.

the post i'm thinking of went into general thoughts of whether better to use a UNC connection or to map an explicit drive letter and use the drive letter instead.

Interesting ...

I have access to a UNC from the command prompt:
QUOTE
D:\Gene6FTPServer\>net use
New connections will be remembered.
Status Local Remote Network
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
OK \\opserv\e Microsoft Windows Network
OK \\opserv\H Microsoft Windows Network
OK \\web\h Microsoft Windows Network
The command completed successfully.

D:\Gene6FTPServer\>dir \\opserv\h
Volume in drive \\opserv\h is newH
Volume Serial Number is C2D0-2D76

Directory of \\opserv\h

09/15/2006 02:56 PM <DIR> adpro
11/03/2008 10:31 AM <DIR> Ikon
07/08/2008 09:13 AM 539 IMP_FLT.RPT
10/14/2008 07:53 AM <DIR> laserprint
12/07/2006 04:30 PM <DIR> net_admin
10/07/2008 03:57 PM <DIR> pub
09/25/2008 10:51 AM <DIR> remit
11/01/2004 10:53 PM <DIR> rinet
10/05/2008 03:34 PM <DIR> temp
10/05/2008 03:33 PM <DIR> test
10/05/2008 03:33 PM <DIR> tmp
09/29/2008 06:08 AM <DIR> var

But when I go into the G6ServerAdmin and try to setup a home directory for a group to \\opserv\h\ikon ,
nothing is shown in the open dialog when I go to \\opserv\h .
Even if I select \\opserv\h as the home directory it is shown with the strikeout font.

I double checked and the logon has full access rights to all of \opserv\h and have no problems viewing directories and files via windows explorer.
