Is there a way to make a users home directory a UNC path or Network Mapped Drive?

Map the drive as a driverletter then just add the driveletter as a path...
See http://sites.google.com/site/freeftpservertools for some nice scripts.

i can not find it now, but isn't there a discussion from the G6 developers about avoiding the use of mapped drives and just using UNC (or vica-verca) ?

no, that is not the one i was thinking of.
the post i'm thinking of went into general thoughts of whether better to use a UNC connection or to map an explicit drive letter and use the drive letter instead.

Interesting ...
I have access to a UNC from the command prompt:
But when I go into the G6ServerAdmin and try to setup a home directory for a group to \\opserv\h\ikon ,
nothing is shown in the open dialog when I go to \\opserv\h .
Even if I select \\opserv\h as the home directory it is shown with the strikeout font.
I double checked and the logon has full access rights to all of \opserv\h and have no problems viewing directories and files via windows explorer.
I have access to a UNC from the command prompt:
