I installed Gene6 on my desktop to make sure that it would cover everything I needed, and it does. Unfortunatly when I installed it on my server (Windows Server 2003) the empty:// command no longer works. If I create the "empty" folder so it actually exists all my virtual mappings show up like they should. Remove the folder and *poof* they disappear.
Is this a bug? am I just over looking something really obvious? Any suggestions would be more than welcome Thanks - Rah |

Do you have something like this: Virtual path Real Path / Empty:// /Info N:\Info /Test D:\Test On this way it should work. -------------------- René

I am having the exact same problem with Windows Server 2008 as the user in this old post. I have the following
/ Empty:// /DailyBread C:\Inetpub\DailyBread /WEC C:\Inetpub\WebEdgeConsulting This has worked for me when using g6 on XP, but when connecting to this type of config on W2008, I cannot see any subdirectories. As the initial poster said, if you substitute a real blank directory instead of Empty://, all other virtual folder appear. This is annoying. I have created a real Empty folder just for this case even though I never let users make, download or upload anything at the virtual root. Hopefully, I've given more useful info to solve the issue. OK, maybe I spoke too soon. Creating a real empty folder as the root produces the same results.

OK. Have to close this thread. It turns out that there is some issue with the FireFTP plugin for Firefox. It was not displaying the virtual directories. I downloaded and tried FileZilla and it all showed up as expected. I use FireFTP all the time, but usually just a certain folder.
Thanks for reading this far. No further help necessary. Thanks, Joe Peavey |
